The appointment is a joint placement in the Computational Social Science Program and the Cognitive Science Department, both within the Division of Social Sciences. The role emphasizes excellence in teaching and related scholarly activities that support the pedagogical mission of the program and the university. Key responsibilities include: Teaching introductory undergraduate courses in computational social science (e.g., CSS 1, 2, 100) covering Python basics, introductory statistics, and beginner machine learning. Developing and teaching new courses for the program. Teaching graduate courses in the M.S. program and leading the summer “bootcamp” for incoming graduate students. Teaching courses within the Cognitive Science Department, contributing to existing curriculum in machine learning, data science, and computational modeling of cognition. Engaging in professional and scholarly activity that enhances the pedagogical mission of the university. Candidates with expertise in Large Language Models, Computer Vision Models, Deep Neural Networks, and/or other AI or machine‑learning fields are encouraged to apply, especially those whose work focuses on human or social aspects of these technologies. Qualifications Basic qualifications (required at the time of application) PhD or ABD in computational social science or a relevant field. Preferred qualifications Experience teaching Python‑based courses on modern computational social science methods at the undergraduate and graduate levels. A track record of scholarly contributions and completed projects working with computational models and large‑scale social science data. Ability to teach courses in Cognitive Science.
