Youth Advisory Council Coordinator

About the Role

The Columbus Medical Association (CMA) Foundation is seeking a Youth Council (YC) Coordinator to lead and manage a dynamic youth philanthropy program. This position supports the development of student leaders while overseeing all aspects of the Council’s grantmaking, programming, and member engagement. The Coordinator serves as a key liaison between students, schools, and community organizations and plays a critical role in fostering youth leadership and community impact.

Key Responsibilities

Program Coordination

• Manage day-to-day operations of the Youth Council
• Plan and lead monthly meetings and maintain an annual program calendar
• Oversee the grantmaking process, including application review and award coordination

Recruitment & Engagement

• Coordinate recruitment, application, and interview process for new student members
• Develop strategies to retain and engage members
• Promote equity and representation in membership selection

Youth Leadership Development

• Facilitate leadership development and philanthropic learning opportunities
• Coordinate guest speakers, trainings, and team-building activities
• Support student understanding of community health issues and solutions

Community Partnerships

• Build and maintain relationships with schools, youth organizations, and nonprofits
• Promote awareness of Council initiatives and funding opportunities

Events & Communications

• Plan special events, including member recognition and social events
• Assist with marketing efforts (social media, newsletters, website updates)

Administrative Functions

• Maintain accurate program records and documentation
• Prepare reports and provide recommendations for program improvement

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

• Knowledge of youth development principles and student leadership programming
• Knowledge of nonprofit operations, community-based programs, and grantmaking practices
• Knowledge of event planning, program coordination, and meeting facilitation
• Knowledge of recruitment, engagement, and retention strategies for youth-focused programs
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Skill in building and maintaining relationships with students, schools, nonprofit partners, and community stakeholders
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Skill in coordinating and facilitating meetings, trainings and group activities
• Ability to facilitate learning opportunities related to leadership, philanthropy, and community impact

• Bachelor's degree in Education, Social Work, Public Health, or related field
