Responsibilities

- Inspect and verify correct part placement and orientation under a microscope before and after soldering.
- Manually align surface mount components and perform touch-ups on solder joints.
- Identify and correct soldering defects, including poor wetting, voids, shorts, bridges, misalignments, tombstoned or billboarded components.
- Operate Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) equipment to assess solder quality and distinguish actual defects from false calls.
- Read and interpret assembly instructions and component identifications.
- Utilize rework equipment such as hot air pencils, hot plates, and BGA removal tools for repairs and modifications.
- Conduct X-ray inspections to detect hidden solder defects on bottom-terminated components.
- Solder and tack down jumper wires on re-design boards as needed.
- Perform tasks efficiently while sitting for extended periods and maintaining focus on repetitive, detailed work.
- Work occasional overtime as production demands.

Required Skills and Experience

- Minimum 5 years hands-on soldering experience in manufacturing environments.
- Exceptional proficiency with rework equipment and surface mount components.
- Strong microscope inspection skills for part alignment and solder joint evaluation.
- IPC-610 Certification (expired or active is mandatory).
- IPC J-STD-001 Certification (expired or active is mandatory).
- Steady work history in electronics assembly and soldering.

Preferred Skills

- Experience with X-ray inspection for bottom-terminated components.
- Expertise in soldering jumper wires on re-design boards.
