This leadership role is ideal for a skilled nursing professional who is passionate about clinical excellence, team development, and enhancing the quality of life for seniors in a long-term care setting.Position SummaryThe Unit Manager is responsible for overseeing the clinical operations and management of a designated nursing unit within our facility. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality resident care while maintaining compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, as well as facility policies and procedures. The Unit Manager provides leadership, supervision, and support to nursing staff and collaborates closely with the interdisciplinary team to promote resident well-being, safety, and satisfaction.Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Leadership & SupervisionDirect and supervise nursing staff, including RNs, LPNs, and CNAs, to ensure quality resident care.Monitor resident health status and ensure timely assessments, care planning, and documentation.Conduct daily rounds to evaluate resident care, staff performance, and unit operations.Oversee and participate in resident admissions, transfers, and discharges.Ensure compliance with infection prevention, medication administration, and safety protocols.Staff Management & DevelopmentSchedule, assign, and evaluate nursing staff on the unit.Provide coaching, mentoring, and performance evaluations.Assist with recruiting, onboarding, and training new team members.Foster a positive and collaborative work environment that promotes accountability, teamwork, and professional growth.Regulatory ComplianceMaintain compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, including CMS requirements.Participate in audits, surveys, and quality improvement initiatives.Ensure accurate and timely documentation in medical records and electronic health systems.Resident & Family RelationsCommunicate effectively and compassionately with residents and their families.Address concerns promptly and professionally.Participate in care conferences and advocate for resident rights, preferences, and individualized care plans.Administrative & Operational DutiesMonitor staffing levels, supplies, and equipment to support efficient operations.Report and follow up on incidents, accidents, and unusual occurrences.Collaborate with department leaders to ensure coordinated and comprehensive resident care.QualificationsEducationGraduate of an accredited School of Nursing.BSN preferred.LicensureCurrent and active RN or LPN license in the state of employment.ExperienceMinimum of 2–3 years of clinical experience in long-term care, skilled nursing, or geriatric nursing.At least 1 year of Unit Manager experience.Skills & CompetenciesStrong leadership and team management abilities.Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.Thorough knowledge of long-term care regulations and best practices.Proficiency with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems.Why Join Aventura at Oakwood?Competitive compensationComprehensive benefits packageSupportive leadership teamOpportunities for professional growth and advancementA collaborative culture focused on excellence in resident careApply today and become a valued leader at Aventura at Oakwood, where compassionate care and clinical excellence come together to make a difference every day.
