Clinical Medical Laboratory Scientist/Medical Laboratory Technician - Blood Bank - PRN

Job Summary This position receives and prepares specimens according to standard protocols, performs laboratory tests and calculations, conducts quality control procedures, calibrates and maintains analytical equipment, performs phlebotomy procedures, and maintains confidentiality of patient information. Responsibilities Prepare and test specimens using standard laboratory protocols. Perform laboratory tests and calculations to provide data for diagnosis and treatment. Conduct quality control procedures, evaluate test performance and results, and take corrective action when necessary. Calibrate, maintain, and monitor analytical equipment. Perform phlebotomy procedures as appropriate. Maintain confidentiality of patient‑related information. Qualifications Education : Bachelor's Degree in medical laboratory science, clinical laboratory science, or a related field. Work Experience : None required. Certifications : Current state license (if applicable); ASCP, AMT, or AAB generalist certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Technologist. For Academic Medical Center facilities, categorical or individual discipline certification; certification maintenance required for those certified on or after January 1, 2004. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities : Computer skills for data entry and retrieval in Windows environments. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Analytical and problem‑solving abilities. Good judgment and conflict‑resolution skills. Interpersonal skills. Physical & Environmental Demands Ability to lift 50–100 pounds occasionally, 25–50 pounds frequently, and 10–20 pounds constantly. Must frequently stoop, bend, reach, and grab with arms and hands. Must stand and sit for prolonged periods. Must travel within and between facilities.
