About the Position

Job Title: RN Profession: Nursing Specialty: MedSurg/Tele Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: 12hr Day Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: 18 months Med/Tele RN experience License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: General post-surgical skillset including incision care, assessment, drains, chest tubes, wound care, mobility, education, trach care, NG tube insertion, and use of braces/traction Description: About the Facility: 920 Church St N, Concord, NC 457 licensed beds Trauma Level III Teaching Hospital Chest Pain Center Stroke Center of Excellence Bariatric Center of Excellence Unit Information: 28 beds Minimum years of experience required: 18 months Med/Tele RN experience Patients types/common diagnoses include orthopedic surgery, spine surgery, trauma, vascular surgery, and medical overflow. Patient ratios are RN: 1:4-6; surge times could be 1:7-8. Required skills include general post-surgical skillset. Support within the department includes CNAs for phlebotomy, ADLs, and IV site removals. Charge nurse provides indirect support as able. RT is available 24/7. Hospitalists are available 24/7. Remote telemetry monitoring is in place. House supervisor provides additional support and serves as a resource for information. Virtual patient observation is utilized for patients needing additional observation. BERT is deployed to assist with de-escalation measures. Rapid response/code teams are additional resources called with changes in patient condition, respiratory or cardiac arrest. Technology/equipment includes EMR, IV pump, medication dispensing systems, and patient monitoring systems. Floating may occur within the region as needed. Scheduling expects weekend rotation every other week and holiday expectations require working 75% of holidays. Requests for time off can be approved up to 6 days, excluding holidays, with any unfulfilled hours added to the end of the contract. Schedule cycle is 6 weeks. Unit culture is described as positive and supportive.
