This role is ideal for a seasoned engineer with deep expertise in I&C systems, strong project leadership experience, and the ability to guide teams across the full project lifecycle.You will play a critical role in designing, specifying, and overseeing instrumentation and control systems for advanced manufacturing environments including semiconductor, pharmaceutical, chemical, and mission-critical facilities.Your Key ResponsibilitiesDiscipline Lead responsible for staffing, team building, team development, and thought LeadershipLead the design and specification of instrumentation and control systems for industrial and high-tech facilitiesDevelop P&IDs, PFDs, loop diagrams, wiring schematics, PLC/DCS system designs, instrument data sheets, and installation detailsCreate logic diagrams, sequences of operation, and I/O databases to support system functionality and integrationOversee electrical and I&C system design from concept through construction, including one-line diagrams, equipment layouts, and construction specificationsDevelop raceway, conduit routing, and overall system layout plans in coordination with multidisciplinary teamsSupport execution of I&C and electrical project delivery plans across all project phasesInterface directly with clients to manage scope, schedule, and technical deliveryLead coordination with mechanical, electrical, process, and architectural teamsMentor and guide junior engineers and designersParticipate in site visits, commissioning support, and client coordinationEnsure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and client requirementsTravel occasionally to support project and client needs and meet site badging requirementsParticipate in proposal development and budget adherenceYour CapabilitiesStrong leadership and project management skills with the ability to drive complex projects to completionDeep technical knowledge of instrumentation and control systems within industrial and high-tech environmentsAbility to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams and communicate with both technical and non-technical stakeholdersExperience managing client relationships and delivering high-quality engineering solutionsStrong problem-solving skills and attention to detail in fast-paced project environmentsAbility to mentor, guide, and develop junior engineering staffEducation and ExperienceBachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program10+ years of experience in instrumentation & controls and electrical system designExperience in semiconductor, advanced manufacturing, oil & gas, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, biotech, or industrial processing environmentsProfessional Engineer (P.E.) license preferredStrong knowledge of NFPA 70 (NEC), NFPA 497, UL 508A, UL 698A, and ISA standardsProficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, and BIM coordination toolsExperience with PLC programming, ladder logic, and HMI/SCADA systemsExperience designing industrial communication networks including Ethernet, Modbus, Profibus, DeviceNet, fiber optics, and wireless systemsExperience with SCADA and industrial control systems supporting complex process environments such as UPW, wastewater treatment, bulk chemical systems, and facility monitoring systemsProven ability to lead projects, manage client relationships, and mentor junior staffTypical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
