IT Support Specialist

IT Support SpecialistMadden Industrial Craftsmen is seeking an IT Support Specialist for a 6-month contract opportunity with a manufacturing company located in Tigard, OR. There is potential for the position to become permanent, but conversion is not guaranteed. The IT Support Specialist will work alongside an existing IT team to provide day-to-day technical support, troubleshoot hardware and software issues, assist with employee onboarding, and maintain company technology systems. This position will focus primarily on help desk ticket management, computer setup, user access, system backups, and general IT support projects. The ideal candidate has a strong technical troubleshooting background, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to manage multiple support requests in a fast-paced environment.IT Support Specialist Responsibilities:Provide daily help desk support, including triaging incoming tickets, troubleshooting technical issues, and responding to employee support requests.Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, network connectivity, and operating system problems.Set up, configure, and deploy new computers, laptops, software, and peripheral equipment.Support new employee onboarding, including computer setup, keycard access, user accounts, application permissions, and system access levels.Assist with employee offboarding, including disabling accounts, updating permissions, and recovering IT equipment.Administer and maintain user accounts, access permissions, and remote access applications.Monitor and verify system backups to help ensure company data is protected and accessible.Assist with maintaining and troubleshooting Microsoft Windows environments, Microsoft Office, Active Directory, and other business applications.Maintain accurate inventories of computers, hardware, software, user accounts, and assigned equipment.Support IT projects, including network cabling, hardware upgrades, software updates, and workstation installations.Assist with maintaining workstations, laptops, servers, network equipment, and peripheral devices.Support the company's digital VoIP telephone system and troubleshoot related issues.Identify and report potential information security concerns and assist with maintaining system security.Maintain organized IT documentation, including technical procedures, software licenses, equipment records, and infrastructure information.Assist with employee training and provide guidance on proper hardware, software, and system usage.Collaborate with the existing IT team and department managers to prioritize support requests and resolve technical issues.Help minimize technology-related downtime and maintain efficient daily business operations.IT Support Specialist Qualifications:Minimum 2 years of experience in IT help desk support, desktop support, or a related technical support role.Strong understanding of PC hardware, software, operating systems, and network connectivity.Experience troubleshooting Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office applications, and common business software.Familiarity with Active Directory, user account management, and access permissions.Experience setting up, configuring, and deploying computers, laptops, and peripheral equipment.Understanding of basic networking concepts, including connectivity troubleshooting and network cabling.Experience with help desk ticketing systems and managing multiple technical support requests.Familiarity with data backups, IT security practices, and system maintenance.Experience maintaining hardware, software, and user inventories.Exposure to Microsoft SQL Server, Exchange, or similar enterprise applications preferred.Strong technical troubleshooting, research, and problem-solving skills.Excellent customer service skills with the ability to assist employees with varying levels of technical knowledge.Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively with employees across multiple departments.Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize competing tasks.Ability to work independently while collaborating with an established IT team.Benefits: $25/hour Paid Sick Leave 401(k) with match Medical Paid Holidays
