In this role, you will transform high-level strategy into tangible operational impact, delivering sophisticated analytics for a global footprint of 4,500+ associates. Fast-forward a few years, and this little innovation and our passion for data has skyrocketed us to a Fortune 200 company and a leader in the world of data-driven decision-making.As a Data Analyst at Capital One you will leverage analytic and technical skills to innovate, build, and maintain well-managed data solutions and capabilities to tackle business problems.On any given day you will be challenged on three types of work – Innovation, Business Intelligence and Data Management:InnovationBusiness IntelligenceData ManagementOur ideal candidate will have:Degree specialized in a Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics disciplineScripting experience in (Python, R, Spark, and SQL)Strong desire and experience with data in various forms (data warehouses/SQL, unstructured data)Experience leveraging HR, Finance, and/or Operations data to drive decision makingExperience utilizing AppScript, Claude Code, Gemini, and developing within AWS servicesBasic Qualifications:Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a Bachelor's Degree in quantitative field (Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science or a related quantitative field) plus at least 5 years of experience performing data analytics, or, a Master's Degree plus at least 3 years performing data analytics with an expectation that required degree will be obtained on or before the scheduled start date.At least 3 years of experience working with at least one scripting languageAt least 3 years of experience utilizing a business intelligence visualization toolAt least 3 years of experience in querying, analyzing and working with data languages and platformsPreferred Qualifications:Master's Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics disciplineAt least 4 years of experience coding in Python, R, Spark, or SQLAt least 4 years of experience working within process management and improvement methodologies – Agile, Lean, Six Sigma, etc.At least 2 years of experience utilizing and developing within AWS servicesAt least 2 years of experience delivering Data Governance and Data Quality Management concepts and practices within the financial services industryCapital One will consider sponsoring a new qualified applicant for employment authorization for this position.The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.McLean, VA: $131,300 - $149,800 for Principal Data AnalystRichmond, VA: $119,400 - $136,200 for Principal Data AnalystNew York, NY: $143,200 - $163,500 for Principal Data AnalystChicago, IL: $119,400 - $136,200 for Principal Data AnalystCandidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI).
