JOB PURPOSE SUMMARY
This position is responsible for determining the presence of a disability as well as planning and providing speech & language services to students with voice, speech, or other language disorders by assessing students and delivering therapeutic intervention to remove, or minimize, problems or impairments that interfere with each identified student's ability to fully benefit from the educational programs and services offered.
KEY FUNCTIONS, ESSENTIAL DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Conducts diagnostic evaluations through the administration of appropriate speech and language screening procedures on the speech and language skills of students with suspected communication disorders.
2. Ensures teachers, parent(s)/guardian(s), and appropriate school personnel receive and understand individual student test results by interpreting and explaining the technical data and information.
3. Develops clinical management strategies and corresponding protocols based upon the interpretive results of observations and/or data collected.
4. Plans and implements speech and/or language therapy services for each identified student.
5. Coordinates therapy service delivery scheduling for identified students in collaboration with other school staff, as deemed necessary.
6. Cultivates, maintains, and supports a learning environment that is academically, emotionally, and physically safe.
7. Develops and maintains positive and student-centered relationships with families and staff members to support a collaborative and safe environment.
8. Participates in ARD (Admission, Review, and Dismissal) Committee meetings by interpreting assessment data and information, as well as assisting in appropriate student placement and goals setting for identified students.
9. Prepares reports and maintains accurate and complete records, as required.
10. Collaborates with classroom teachers in the planning and implementation of classroom activities to improve the communication skills of identified students.
11. Provides individualized updates to students, parent(s)/guardian(s), and school personnel, as appropriate, regarding student progress in the accomplishment of therapy goals and needs of each identified student.
12. Participates in research-based professional development activities to improve skills related to the job function.
13. Compiles, maintains, and files, as appropriate, all physical and electronic reports, records, and other required documents.

14. Performs all duties and tasks in a manner consistent with all applicable policies, procedures, and practices within the Department and District, with all applicable local, state, and federal regulatory requirements, as well as with all applicable guidelines, standards, and requirements as set forth by governing bodies including, without limitation, Texas Health & Human Services, Texas Education Code, State Board of Education, Texas Education Agency, and Texas Association of School Boards.
15. Stays abreast of federal, state, District, and school regulations and policies applicable to the compliance requirements of the job function.
16. Demonstrates applicable standards and practices of professional conduct and care in the performance of the job function.
17. Monitors respective work activity for variances and anomalies.
18. Identifies and timely reports any known or suspected compliance issues to appropriate personnel.
19. Participates, as assigned, in audits and in the preparation for audits, whether initiated internally or externally.
20. Adheres to all other District-wide policies and procedures including, but not limited to, human resources, safety, and emergency protocols.

25. Attends and participates in all required, or otherwise essential, continuing education activities necessary for maintaining an active certification status and remaining informed of best practices in special education and assessment.
26. Demonstrates proficient working knowledge and understanding of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook, Google Shared applications to include Google Sheets, Google Docs, and Google Slides, as well as database systems and applications relevant to the job function.
27. Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & CREDENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Master's Degree in Speech Pathology
- Active, In Good Standing, and Duly Obtained Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) licensure by the Texas Department of Licensing & Regulation
- Active, In Good Standing, and Duly Obtained Certificate of Clinical Competence by the American Speech Hearing Association, or seeking a speech-language pathology clinical fellowship year (CFY) position

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS
This position requires frequent sitting, walking, and standing for extended periods of time, as well as frequent reading, seeing, speaking, hearing, listening, organizing, interpreting data and information, operating office equipment, typing using a computer keyboard and mouse, viewing a computer screen monitor, and use of a telephone. This position may require occasional to frequent lifting, carrying and/or moving of objects of up to 15 lbs or more. The working environment consists of an indoor and climate-controlled setting the majority of the time with occasional exposure to an outdoor and non-climate controlled setting.
