Mid - Senior Level Associate Attorney | Medical Malpractice & Civil Litigation Defense

Seattle, WA | Hybrid

I'm working with a premier litigation defense firm seeking a Mid-Level to Senior Associate Attorney to join its Seattle office. This opportunity is ideal for an experienced litigator looking to take on a significant role in a sophisticated practice focused on medical malpractice defense, while continuing to develop trial skills and client-facing responsibilities.

The firm has built a reputation for defending physicians, hospitals, healthcare systems, and other healthcare providers in complex, high-exposure matters. Associates are entrusted with substantial responsibility, work directly with clients, experts, and firm leadership, and play a key role in case strategy and litigation management from day one.

The Role

As a senior member of the litigation team, you'll manage complex cases and serve as a trusted advisor to healthcare and business clients. You'll have the opportunity to take ownership of matters while collaborating with seasoned trial attorneys on some of the Pacific Northwest's most challenging defense cases.

Responsibilities

• Manage complex litigation matters from inception through resolution
• Develop and execute case strategy in partnership with clients and firm leadership
• Draft and argue substantive motions
• Conduct and defend depositions, including expert witness depositions
• Prepare cases for mediation, arbitration, and trial
• Work directly with physicians, hospital administrators, risk managers, insurers, and expert witnesses
• Mentor and collaborate with junior attorneys and support staff
• Maintain strong client relationships and serve as a strategic resource throughout the litigation process
• Take an active role in trial preparation and courtroom advocacy

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school
• Active Washington State Bar membership in good standing
• 5+ years of civil litigation experience
• Significant experience in insurance defense, professional liability, healthcare litigation, and/or medical malpractice defense strongly preferred
• Proven experience independently managing a litigation caseload
• Strong deposition, motion practice, and courtroom skills
• Exceptional legal research, writing, and advocacy abilities
• Ability to analyze complex medical, technical, and legal issues
• Strong client management and communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to thrive in a collaborative, team-oriented environment
