The Fat Hen is a new fast-casual chicken joint coming to Flagstaff — serving up crispy chicken, cold drinks, and seriously good hospitality . Brought to you by the Salsa Brava, Fat Olives & Fat Bagels family.

We’re looking for dependable, hard-working Cooks to join our opening kitchen team. This position is focused on preparing great food quickly, consistently, and safely while working as part of a fast-paced team.

You don’t need to be a fine-dining chef — but you do need to care about the food you put out, keep your station clean and organized, and be ready to hustle when the orders start rolling in.

Compensation

$18.35–$20.00/hour base pay, depending on experience + tips

Tips are expected to average an additional $4.50–$6.50 per hour , bringing estimated total compensation to approximately $22.85–$26.50 per hour , depending on experience and tips.

What You’ll Do

As a Cook at The Fat Hen, you’ll be responsible for:

• Preparing and cooking chicken, tenders, sandwiches, sides, salads, and other menu items
• Following recipes, cooking procedures, portion standards, and presentation guidelines
• Completing daily food prep and setting up stations for service
• Operating fryers, grills, hot-holding equipment, and other kitchen equipment safely
• Monitoring cook times, temperatures, and food quality
• Keeping up with orders during busy dine-in, drive-thru, online, and delivery periods
• Reading tickets and communicating with the kitchen and expo team
• Restocking ingredients and maintaining an organized station throughout the shift
• Following proper food handling, sanitation, and food safety procedures
• Maintaining clean workstations, equipment, floors, storage areas, and kitchen spaces
• Completing opening, closing, cleaning, and shift sidework
• Helping receive, rotate, label, and properly store food products
• Minimizing waste and using proper portions
• Communicating with teammates to keep food moving quickly and accurately
• Jumping in to help other kitchen stations when needed

What We’re Looking For: Previous kitchen or restaurant experience is preferred, but we’re willing to train the right person.

• Able to follow recipes and procedures consistently
• Focused on food quality and accuracy
• Able to stay organized while handling multiple orders
• Willing to clean, prep, stock, cook, and help wherever needed
• Comfortable working around fryers, hot equipment, and raw chicken

• Productive during both busy and slower periods
• Positive, coachable, and willing to learn
• Able to take direction and respond well to feedback
• Team players who understand that keeping the kitchen running is everyone’s responsibility
