We are currently seeking an Accounting Associate to join our accounting team and support the financial operations of our busy, mission-driven congregation. Position Summary The Accounting Associate will be responsible for ensuring timely and accurate financial transactions related to vendor payments and member billing. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and experienced in using platforms such as QuickBooks Online and Bill.com . This individual will play a vital role in the day-to-day financial health of the synagogue and should be comfortable working in a high-volume, collaborative environment. Key Responsibilities Process vendor invoices and expense submissions using Bill.com Manage accounts payable, including weekly check runs and ACH payments Track and reconcile accounts receivable, including member billing and donations in ShulCloud. Enter and categorize transactions accurately in QuickBooks Reconcile credit card statements monthly Maintain precise and up-to-date vendor and congregant account records Support the preparation of monthly vendor and membership reports for leadership Assist with the annual audit and budgeting process Communicate with congregants regarding billing questions or payment issues with professionalism and discretion Ensure financial compliance with internal policies and nonprofit best practices Qualifications Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred Minimum 2–3 years of experience in AP/AR or general accounting Proficiency in QuickBooks, Bill.com, and ShulCloud highly preferred Excel and data management skills preferred Excellent organizational, time management, and problem-solving abilities Professional demeanor with excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion Familiarity with Jewish holidays and synagogue operations is a plus This position requires high attention to detail.
