Staff Accountant

This position is primarily responsible for the timely payment and of all expenditures and the accurate recording of revenues in the accounting system. Position Responsibilities Being the primary contact for all accounts payable. Receives invoices, scans them, and sends them to the responsible person for purchase order creation. Monitors requisition lists to ensure proper coding and conversion into receivers in a timely manner. Reviews all receivers, converts them into AP invoices in Intacct, and selects invoices for payment. Prints checks and presents them to the Executive Director and, when necessary, a second signer. Establishes and maintains vendor relationships, resolves unpaid balances, inquires about pricing for new products and services as requested by the Controller, and maintains contracts and other paperwork associated with accounts. Responsible for the timely and accurate entry of all cash receipts into the accounting system, applying them to the appropriate open accounts receivable when necessary. Enters bills into Intacct for Finance, Administration, and Facilities departments, ensuring accurate coding and allocation as needed. Monitors and enters all payments made via EFT or ACH. Maintains all bank transfer journal entries. Serves as the primary point of contact for company purchasing card maintenance, including setting up new user online access, expense report training for new cardholders, credit card request and release forms, credit limit adjustments with proper approvals, transaction coding and appropriate backup verification, and timely payment of all balances. Must be sensitive to the service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics. Adheres to safety training and protocols daily, taking precautionary measures to ensure the safety and well-being of self and others. Protects confidentiality of any information or material obtained in the service with the organization, including but not limited to client names and information, services rendered to clients, donor names and gifts, internal and external investigations or results of any investigations, and financial information. Competencies Adaptability Critical Thinking Communication Integrity/Honesty Results Oriented Minimum Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or business-related field. Experience: Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar field with at least 2 years of experience in accounts payable and/or accounting experience. License and Credentials: Reliable transportation, valid driver license with clean driving record, valid vehicle insurance. Experience with Intacct preferred. Minimum Knowledge and Skills Minimum of 2 years’ experience in accounts payable including expense coding and allocating, verifying backup documentation, check runs, and communication with vendors. Extensive working knowledge of expense and revenue accounts and internal controls. Experience with computer software (Intacct software preferred). Solid grasp of the general ledger. Detail oriented, organized, self‑motivated, works well independently and on a team. Good written and verbal skills. Good critical thinking and problem‑solving skills.
