You will be responsible for managing a team of employees by being a key leader of the Shipping department and the Plant Management Team.What you'll do:Identify work procedures; prepare work schedules and expedite workflowExamine work for exactness, neatness and conformance to policies and proceduresStudy and standardize procedures to improve efficiencyReview pipe orders to determine truckload space/percentage and if a fill is neededCommunicate with CSR regarding fills and order status when requestedCoordinate product needs with the Production Department and the Plant ManagerCommunicate with shipping personnel regarding incoming deliveries or special instructionsNegotiate freight rates and search for additional carriers for backupAssist with inventory control processReport inventory discrepancies to Inventory ControlStrong knowledge of JD Edwards for shipping utilizationWhat you'll bring:Associate degree and minimum of 5 years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experienceSupervisory experience is required with a minimum of 3 years' experience managing peopleTime management, planning and organizational skillsEffective decision making and problem-solving abilitiesExperience working with shipping and receiving database/softwareShipping/material handling experience with knowledge of shipping and receiving principles, practices, and proceduresExcellent interpersonal and communication skillsStrong initiative and adaptable to changeWithin 3 months, you'll:Understand our safety cultureComplete your Atkore immersion program.Understand how your job will help deliver Atkore's strategy.Establish relationships with Production, Warehouse, Customer Service, Transportation, and Quality teams.Gain an understanding of your team.Within 6 months, you'll:Update training materials and procedures.Create new training materials.Audit processes to ensure conformance specifications are met.Improve employee accountability through regular coaching, performance feedback, and team communication.Within 12 months, you'll:Be managing an efficient team that delivers Atkore's strategy.Creating and updating reports, training materials and documentation.Have meaningful performance conversations with your direct reports.Achieve or exceed annual departmental performance targets.Atkore is a six-time Great Place to Work© certified company and a four-time Top Workplaces USA award winner! Placement in the range depends on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, relevant experience, skills, seniority, performance, shift, travel requirements, and business or organizational needs and may change over time.
