Government Information Specialist

The mission of the CISA Office of Privacy, Access, Civil Liberties & Transparency (PACT) is to help CISA achieve its homeland security and protective mission while minimizing the impact on the individual's privacy, particularly the individual's personal information. To be considered minimally qualified for this position, you must demonstrate that you have the required experience for the respective grade level in which you are applying. You qualify at the GS-13 grade level, if you have: At least one (1) year of specialized experience at the GS-12 grade level (or equivalent) performing all the following duties: Interpreting and applying disclosure authorities to resolve complex Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) issues; Advising management/stakeholders on FOIA compliance; Meeting statutory deadlines and/or organizational goals for oversight of FOIA program and effective case management; AND Communicating and negotiating FOIA requests with the requester. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
