Resident Engineer

Overview Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking a Resident Engineer in New Windsor, NY! Join our Construction Engineering & Inspection team as a Resident Engineer supporting transportation and infrastructure projects for highways, roadways, and bridges in New York State. In this role, you will provide on-site leadership for construction activities, oversee contractor performance, ensure compliance with project plans and specifications, and serve as a key point of communication between clients, contractors, and project stakeholders. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented construction professional who brings strong field experience, sound judgment, and a commitment to delivering safe, high-quality infrastructure improvements for the communities we serve. Responsibilities Ability to lead inspectors or act as a solo inspector for the construction inspection of bridge and/or highway projects including measuring and calculating quantities and documenting work with daily work reports, photos, and sketches. Oversee and coordinate documentation of construction inspection including pay estimates, change orders, daily work reports, quantity checking, meeting minutes, material certifications, etc. Ensure work is completed in accordance with specifications. Apply project plans, along with company policies, guidelines, standards, specifications to the work and make decisive decisions. Maintain project documentation and communicate with individuals at all levels of the project. Coordinate activities on the project site and resolve problems related to the work. Lead other construction inspectors; providing coaching, mentoring, and direction as needed. Qualifications High school diploma/GED is required. 10+ years of construction engineering/inspection experience is required. NICET Certifications and/or PE (Professional Engineer) License is preferred. Possess a valid US Driver's License is required. Leadership skills, decision making, and attention to detail. Ability to read, write, and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.
