Human Resources Generalist

Our human resources team is growing, and we are looking to add a full-time Human Resources (HR) Generalist to the team. This position is ideal for an HR professional who enjoys working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and is interested in developing experience across the full HR function. The HR Generalist will report to the Director of Human Resources.

Position Summary:

The HR Generalist will support employee lifecycle activities, HR administration, onboarding/offboarding, benefits, employee records, and other HR initiatives. The successful candidate will be highly organized, responsive, discreet, and comfortable balancing multiple priorities while maintaining confidentiality and attention to detail. This individual will also be responsible for data entry and back up for onboarding/offboarding. From time to time, may assist the Senior Recruiter with recruitment activities. Please note that this position is not a senior-level HR Generalist role.

 Experience supporting a  small government contracting environment  is strongly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Support day-to-day HR operations and respond to employee and management inquiries.
• Maintain accurate and confidential employee personnel records and HR databases.
• Coordinate onboarding and offboarding activities, including required documentation, system access, and exit processes.
• May assist with recruitment activities, including job postings, candidate communications, interview scheduling, and reference checks.
• Support benefits administration and serves as a point of contact for routine employee questions.
• Assist with payroll change tracker, and HRIS administration as applicable.
• Prepare HR reports, correspondence, forms, and other documentation.
• Support employee engagement, and other HR programs.
• Help maintain compliance with applicable federal, state, and local employment requirements and company policies.
• Support HR compliance activities relevant to government contractors.
• Assist with maintaining required employment eligibility, background screening, and other pre-employment documentation.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 5 years of HR experience, supporting a growing small business. Experience supporting a federal government contractor is a plus.
• Ability to multi-task and juggle multiple priorities. Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to handle confidential and sensitive information appropriately.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office/365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with HR information systems.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines in a changing environment.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a small team.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working for a  small or growing business supporting employee headcount of 100+ . Experience supporting employees across multiple states.

• Familiarity with federal employment requirements and government contracting workforce practices.
• Experience with employee onboarding, offboarding, data entry and benefits administration.
• aPHR, PHR or SHRM-CP.
• Experience with an HRIS, payroll, benefits, or applicant tracking system.
