Reports to: Director of Teaching and Learning

Position Goal: The Supervisor of Arts and Humanities provides leadership, coordination, and oversight for the district's K–12 Arts and Humanities programs, including English Language Arts (ELA), Social Studies, English Language Development (ELD), World Languages, Library, and the Arts (Music, Art, Theater, and Family & Consumer Sciences). The Supervisor collaborates with administrators, teachers, and district leaders to ensure high-quality curriculum, instruction, assessment, and professional learning that promote student achievement and engagement across all content areas. This position plays an integral role in the district's curriculum renewal cycle, instructional improvement efforts, and implementation of district initiatives aligned to strategic goals and state standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and oversight for K–12 curriculum, instruction, and assessment in ELA, Social Studies, ELD, World Languages, Music, Art, and Family & Consumer Sciences.
  • Lead curriculum development, implementation, review, and renewal processes aligned to state standards, district goals, and best instructional practices.
  • Collaborate with teachers and administrators to ensure consistent implementation of curriculum and instructional frameworks across grade levels and schools.
  • Support the selection, implementation, and evaluation of instructional resources, digital tools, and supplemental materials.
  • Assist the Director of Teaching and Learning in district assessment practices, including benchmark assessments, state assessments, and common assessments.
  • Analyze student achievement and assessment data to identify trends, support instructional decision-making, and develop action plans for continuous improvement.
  • Monitor program effectiveness and make recommendations for improvement based on data, research, and stakeholder feedback.
  • Supervise and evaluate assigned instructional staff in accordance with district procedures and applicable evaluation frameworks.
  • Support principals and teachers through classroom observations, feedback, and collaborative planning.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and professional growth among staff.
  • Assist in the recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and retention of high-quality instructional staff.
  • Oversees and facilitates meetings with the curriculum leaders in collaboration with the Supervisor of STEM.
  • Design, coordinate, and facilitate district-wide professional development aligned to curriculum initiatives, instructional priorities, and student learning needs.
  • Provide ongoing training and support related to instructional practices, assessment literacy, culturally responsive teaching, and curriculum.
  • Attends appropriate intermediate unit and state council meetings and relevant training.
  • Ensure district programs comply with state and federal regulations related to curriculum, assessment, and instructional programming.
  • Collaborate with special education, multilingual learner, and student services teams to support equitable access to high-quality instruction for all learners.
  • Assist with budget planning and management related to curriculum resources, instructional materials, and professional learning.
  • Maintain current knowledge of educational research, trends, legislation, and best practices in Arts and Humanities education.
  • Work collaboratively with district administrators, principals, teachers, families, and community stakeholders to support district initiatives and student success.
  • Communicate effectively with district leadership regarding program implementation, progress, and recommendations.
  • Represent the Teaching and Learning team at Education Committee Meetings as requested.
Qualifications
  • Valid Pennsylvania administrative certification (Principal, Supervisor of Curriculum and Instruction preferred).
  • Master's degree in English or Social Studies preferred.
  • Minimum of five (5) years successful teaching experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in curriculum development, instructional leadership, assessment, and professional development.
  • Strong knowledge of standards-based instruction, assessment practices, curriculum implementation, and structured literacy.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to analyze and use student achievement data to drive instructional improvement.
