Location Remote US (Global travel as required) Reports to Tech Health Lead Role Overview As a Deployed Customer Engineer (DCE), you are the technical bridge between Couchbase’s engineering excellence and our customers’ most ambitious business goals. You will build production‑grade code, design high‑performance database architectures, and ensure our platform powers mission‑critical, AI‑driven applications. Key Responsibilities Technical Implementation & Development – write clean, scalable code for integrations, APIs, and data models that connect Couchbase with customer ecosystems. Product Configuration – configure Couchbase Server, Capella (DBaaS), and Mobile products to optimize latency, throughput, and reliability. Architecture Design – build advanced data architectures, including Vector Search and Retrieval‑Augmented Generation patterns for modern AI applications. Customer Integration & Success – partner with customer development teams, participate in sprints and code reviews, and troubleshoot complex distributed system issues. Value Realization – translate business requirements into technical milestones, ensuring rapid time‑to‑value. Cross‑Functional Collaboration – provide product feedback to core engineering teams and align with Solution Engineers to identify expansion opportunities. Skills & Abilities Polyglot Developer: proficiency in at least two major languages (Java, Python, Go, Node.js, or C#). Database Native: deep understanding of NoSQL, distributed systems, and SQL‑based query languages (N1QL). Consultative Mindset: explain complex technical trade‑offs to developers and executive stakeholders. Operational Agility: comfortable with AWS, Azure, GCP, Kubernetes/OpenShift, and networking (VPC, DNS, load balancing, security). Desired Qualifications 5+ years in Software Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering, or Technical Consulting. Track record of deploying large‑scale distributed databases or data‑intensive applications. Alignment with Couchbase Values: drive to solve hard problems and exhibit empathy as a customer partner. Success Metrics (12–18 months) Deployment Velocity – reduce average time from kickoff to production “Go‑Live.” Technical Health – achieve high performance‑to‑cost ratios and zero churn due to technical blockers. Community Impact – contribute reusable code samples, connectors, utilities, or documentation to the Couchbase ecosystem. Expansion – validate at least two new use cases within assigned strategic accounts. Compensation Base pay range: $130,000 – $152,000 USD (not the sole component of total rewards).
