Hybrid Community Care Advocate

Position OverviewThis is a high-volume, high-stress inbound call center role supporting low-income individuals seeking assistance with:Utility bills (especially DTE and water)Housing assistanceFood resourcesChildcareClothingShelter and other social servicesCandidates must demonstrate a strong balance of empathy and efficiency. They need to genuinely care about callers while maintaining call flow, documenting information, and handling back-to-back calls throughout the shift.Must-Have RequirementsCall Center ExperienceMinimum 1 year of high-volume inbound call center experienceExperience working in a queue environmentComfortable handling 30+ calls per day (preferably much higher)Average call handling times around 5-7 minutesExperience wearing a headset and working calls continuouslyTechnical SkillsAble to type and talk simultaneouslyStrong note-taking/documentation skillsComfortable navigating databases and multiple systemsSoft SkillsEmpathy and compassionActive listeningAbility to uncover additional needs beyond the initial requestRemains professional when callers are upset, yelling, or swearingResilient under pressureSelf-directed learnerSchedule RequirementsMust be willing to work the permanent shift:12:30 PM - 9:00 PMMust be available for training:Week 1: Onsite, 8:30 AM - 5:00 PMWeek 2: Shadowing and must be flexible to work trainer's scheduleJob Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Detroit, MI.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00/hr.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
