The Associate Attorney will report to our managing attorney, working directly with clients to design and implement estate plans tailored to each client's family, financial, and tax circumstances. The role will include preparing detailed estate planning documents, advising clients on probate avoidance and fiduciary appointments, assisting with estate and trust administration matters as needed, Medicaid applications, and other elder law matters.

The position is well-suited for an attorney just starting out or one who wants to switch to an estate planning practice, who enjoys meaningful client interaction, careful drafting, and helping families make informed decisions about the transfer and protection of assets. We will provide training on our processes, CRM, and drafting software.

This role is designed as a path to partnership, with the possibility of firm ownership after approximately 10 years, as our lead attorney transitions toward retirement. We are looking to invest in someone who wants to grow into that future alongside us.

$60,000 - $75,000 + bonuses

• Meet with clients to identify estate planning goals, family considerations, asset structures, and planning needs

• Design, draft, review, and revise estate planning documents

• Advise clients regarding probate avoidance, fiduciary selection, beneficiary designations, incapacity planning, and related estate planning considerations

• Assist with estate administration and probate matters, including preparation of Massachusetts Probate and Family Court filings, fiduciary guidance, and asset collection and distribution

• Assist with Medicaid applications and appeals when needed

• Communicate clearly and professionally with clients, team members, financial advisors, accountants, court personnel, and other professionals

• Maintain organized client files, accurate time records, and appropriate matter documentation

• Support the continued development of firm systems, client service processes, and workflows

• Participate in business development, professional networking, and community outreach, as appropriate

• Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school

• Admission to practice law in Massachusetts and in good standing with the Massachusetts Bar

• Previous legal experience is not required, but a strong desire to learn estate planning, elder law, and probate administration is a must

• Strong legal drafting, analytical, and client communication skills

• Ability to manage multiple matters independently while meeting deadlines

• High level of professionalism, discretion, and attention to detail

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and comfort learning new legal practice management and document drafting software

OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE will be personable, detail-oriented, and interested in growing with a small firm. The attorney should be comfortable working directly with clients, explaining legal concepts in plain language, and taking ownership of matters from initial consultation through document execution or administration.

A portable book of business is welcome but not required. Ability to prepare Medicaid applications is a strong plus but not required.
