CWC - Senior Project Manager

To be considered for this position, the candidate must be serving permanently as a Construction Project Manager, or be reachable on the list for Exam #5058. Proof must be provided. Responsibilities Under the direction of the Director/Chief Engineer of the Citywide Concrete Unit, the selected candidate will serve as an engineering lead focusing on Bus Stop Accessibility and Bus Priority Projects. The candidate will supervise, direct, and assign work to Assistant Civil Engineers, Project Managers, and Construction Project Managers responsible for street improvement projects and over 2,000 citywide pedestrian ramp upgrades annually to comply with ADA specifications. The candidate will lead and attend site studies for constructability of concrete bus pads, islands, medians, neckdowns, pedestrian ramps, etc., and will direct inspections for repairs of bus pads, curbs, sidewalks, pedestrian ramps, pedestrian islands, cobblestone, and step streets. The candidate will conduct complex structural investigations of retaining walls, assess drainage conditions and remediation, and evaluate bridge/utility vault conditions related to nearby excavation activities. In addition, the candidate will supervise the operation and maintenance of concrete structures (sidewalks, curbs, pedestrian ramps, concrete islands) and prepare recommendations for alterations or repairs. The role includes surveying and directing repair of sidewalk vault structures and performing typical Construction Project Manager duties such as maintaining accurate photographs and daily progress reports, ordering and interpreting survey plans, estimating, assigning, and reviewing the work of construction crews daily, preparing sketches and layouts of concrete design plans, and coordinating with internal and external agencies to resolve conflicts during construction. Qualifications A four‑year high school diploma or equivalent and five years of full‑time experience managing or inspecting construction projects with a total cost of at least $300,000 each year; or One year of the above experience plus a baccalaureate degree in engineering, architecture, landscape architecture, construction, or a related field; or One year of the above experience plus a valid license as a professional engineer, registered architect, or registered landscape architect; or A four‑year high school diploma or equivalent and at least two years of the above experience combined with the education described in item 2, totaling five years of education and experience. Matriculation in an undergraduate program may be substituted for a maximum of three years of experience on the basis of 30 semester credits. For Assignment Level II: one additional year of satisfactory full‑time experience in Assignment Level I; or one additional year of the experience described in item 1. For Assignment Level III: two additional years of satisfactory full‑time experience in Assignment Levels I and II; or two additional years of the experience described in item 1, plus a valid motor vehicle driver license issued in New York. Driver License Requirement At the time of appointment, the candidate must possess a valid motor vehicle driver license issued in the State of New York. Any moving violations, license suspensions, or accident record may disqualify the applicant. The license must be maintained throughout employment. Preferred Skills Prior experience working with in‑house construction staff and knowledge of NYC Street construction standards.
