Legal & Compliance Associate

Washington, DC (Office-Based, 5 days per week) Job Description A US-based subsidiary of an international critical minerals investment company focused on energy transition and strategic resource supply chains is seeking a Legal & Compliance Associate to support the establishment and development of its US legal and compliance function. This is a confidential search for a hands‑on legal and compliance professional to work closely with senior leadership during a period of organisational build‑out, investment activity, and capital expansion. The role offers broad exposure across commercial, regulatory, governance, and transactional workstreams within a fast‑evolving international investment environment. Assist with the preparation, review, negotiation, and administration of commercial contracts, NDAs, supplier agreements, and other legal documents Support compliance monitoring, policy implementation, and regulatory reporting requirements Maintain corporate records and assist with governance and company secretarial matters Coordinate with external legal counsel and other professional advisers Conduct legal and regulatory research Support due diligence exercises, compliance reviews, and internal investigations Monitor legal and regulatory developments affecting the business Maintain legal, compliance, and contract management systems and records Assist business teams with legal and compliance‑related queries and processes Qualifications & Experience We are open to candidates with 3–8 years’ experience gained in law firms, in‑house legal teams, compliance functions, regulated industries, or similar professional settings. Candidates may come from a range of backgrounds, including: Qualified attorneys (US‑admitted or international equivalents) Paralegals or legal executives Compliance professionals or compliance analysts Contract managers or contract administrators Individuals with a law degree, compliance certification, or equivalent professional experience Strong experience in commercial contracts, corporate governance, compliance, or regulatory frameworks Excellent drafting, analytical, and organisational skills Ability to operate independently in a fast‑paced, evolving environment Advantageous (but not required) Experience in technology, telecommunications, energy, mining, infrastructure, financial services, or other regulated industries Exposure to due diligence processes, transactions, or capital markets activity #J-18808-Ljbffr
