Assistant Manager of Operations - Biological Chemistry

Assistant Manager of Operations - Biological Chemistry Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) and Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the Administrative Officer 3 provides senior-level financial, research administration, and operational support for department faculty and staff. This position requires extensive knowledge of DGSOM fund management, research administration, and university policies, with the ability to independently manage complex financial and administrative processes. Key responsibilities include analyzing departmental financial reports, monitoring research funding, ensuring compliance with sponsor and university requirements, supporting financial forecasting, and overseeing fund management, purchasing, and student affairs. The Administrative Officer 3 also serves as a primary resource for pre- and post-award administration, effort reporting (ECC), and research administration, while collaborating with faculty, campus partners, and central administrative offices to support the department's research and financial operations. *This is a rehire limited 1 year appointment role at 43% FTE. Qualifications Required: Bachelor's Degree and/or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum of 3 years as a project lead in a business/admin unit within a basic science/clinical department or service line. Understanding of the concepts of strategic leadership, planning and change management approaches in a complex environment, preferably a research-intensive medical school/health system. Ability to demonstrate an entry level of diplomacy in persuading and influencing people at various levels to achieve results. Ability to identify and analyze pertinent information/data to make and communicate recommendations and decisions. Effective interpersonal and communication skills. Ability as a partner to maintain a culture of integrity and accountability.
