Key Responsibilities of the Step-Down RN

• Post-heart cath care and monitoring TR bands
• Provide care for patients with congestive heart failure and respiratory failure
• Conduct frequent vital signs and neurovascular checks
• Interpret and manage cardiac dysrhythmias
• Administer and manage IVs, PICC lines, and blood products
• Assist with chest tube insertion and removal
• Management of BiPAP/CPAP and assist with respiratory therapies

Requirements of the Step-Down RN

• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
• 2+ years of recent Step-Down experience
• Proficient in cardiac monitoring and interpretive skills
• Experienced in providing procedural sedation and emergency medications
• Strong skills in infection prevention and isolation precautions
