Emergency Medical Services Communications Coordinator

Job Description Answers requests for emergency medical service and enters them into the system using the appropriate protocol system. Dispatches calls and coordinates with the appropriate resources as dictated by guidelines. Job Responsibilities Answer requests for emergency medical service utilizing provided Medical Priority Dispatch System (MPDS) cards / ProQA for proper prioritization and pre-arrival instructions; adheres to guidelines. Work on mostly routine and transactional assignments, guided by policies, procedures, guidelines, and precedent. Exercise independent judgment on basic or moderately complex issues regarding job and related tasks. Respond to and coordinate with posted units following the Deployment Monitor in an expedient manner. Follow dispatch orders adhering to approved policies and procedures. Maintain accurate records for ambulances. Elevate questions, problems and significant challenges to more senior team members for direction or subject matter expertise on new or unprecedented assignments. Handle and coordinate scheduled transports in a timely manner. Clarify policies or procedures, and any other matters that may occur, as appropriate. Participate in all required safety and back-up drills. Perform related duties as required. Duties not mentioned here, but considered related, are not essential functions. Job Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent required. 1-3 Years of Technical Experience required. Valid New York State Department of Health Emergency Medical Technician certification required. AHA Healthcare Provider CPR certification required.
