Job Title: Designer – Workplace and Corporate Interiors Job Description

This role focuses on designing and coordinating workplace and corporate interior projects through all phases of design and documentation. You will create and manage drawings, models, renderings, and presentation materials, while independently driving design development and construction documentation. The position offers the opportunity to work on high-end workplace projects in a flexible, collaborative environment and contribute to impactful spaces that support performance, culture, and long-term growth.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate workplace and corporate interiors projects through all phases of design and documentation.
• Create and maintain project drawings, 3D models, renderings, and presentation materials using Revit and Adobe Creative Suite.
• Independently execute, coordinate, and review design and technical documentation through Design Development and Construction Documents phases.
• Produce high-quality renderings and visual presentations to clearly communicate design concepts and support client meetings.
• Coordinate FF&E selections, specifications, and vendor communications to ensure design intent is carried through project execution.
• Review FF&E specifications and manage vendor coordination to align products with project standards and design goals.
• Prepare and support client presentations, including developing presentation materials and decks for meetings.
• Collaborate closely with internal project teams, including pre-construction, to align on project scope, budgets, schedules, and deliverables.
• Track and manage your own project hours, workload, and phase progression to meet deadlines and project milestones.
• Coordinate with consultants, vendors, and other project stakeholders to maintain project accuracy, progress, and alignment with design intent.
• Review project deliverables for quality, consistency, and adherence to client expectations and project standards.
• Communicate effectively with clients, team members, and consultants while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Work independently with minimal oversight while actively contributing to a collaborative team culture.
• Apply knowledge of relevant codes and design guidelines throughout the design and documentation process.
• Support a growing local team by contributing to the expansion of its presence in the Chicago market.
• Participate in ongoing learning opportunities such as lunch-and-learn sessions to stay current with design tools, trends, and best practices.

Essential Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or Design from an accredited school.
• 6–10 years of professional experience in architecture or interior design.
• Demonstrated workplace and corporate interiors project experience.
• Strong proficiency in Revit for design development, technical drawings, and construction documents.
• Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and InDesign for renderings, graphics, and presentation materials.
• Proficiency in PowerPoint for client presentations and decks.
• Ability to independently execute, coordinate, and review work through Design Development and Construction Documents phases.
• Hands-on FF&E experience, including reviewing specifications, coordinating with vendors, and maintaining design intent.
• Ability to manage personal project hours and phase tracking to meet project schedules and deadlines.
• Experience supporting client presentations and meetings, including preparation of visual materials and decks.
• Experience coordinating with internal teams, including pre-construction, on project scope, budgets, and deadlines.
• Knowledge across all phases of a project, from schematic design through construction administration.
• Knowledge of applicable codes and design guidelines relevant to workplace and corporate interiors.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to present ideas clearly.
• Self-starter mindset with the ability to work independently and take initiative in a collaborative environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Accreditation in LEED, NCARB, NCIDQ, and/or WELL is a plus.
• Experience with Enscape for real-time visualization and renderings is preferred.
• Familiarity with Miro or similar collaborative digital whiteboarding tools is beneficial.
• Experience in construction administration and schematic design phases.
• Comfort working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• Interest in high-end workplace design and exposure to projects in Chicago and the broader Midwest region.

Work Environment

This position is based in a Chicago studio of approximately 16 people, with a design team of about 7, offering a close-knit and collaborative environment. The role follows a hybrid work model, with team members typically working in the office three days per week. Core office hours are 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM, during which employees are expected to be on-site; outside of these hours there is flexibility to work remotely, provided schedule adjustments are communicated in advance. Many team members choose to start earlier in the day, arriving around 8:00–8:15 AM and leaving around 3:30–3:45 PM. Overtime hours are not generally anticipated. The office features an open, colorful layout with plants, lounge areas, and abundant natural light. A central material library brings sunlight into the space, while meeting rooms line the perimeter. Seating is unassigned, with hoteling desks available for visitors, and regular team members often personalize their preferred desks. The building offers a gym membership for purchase and several food options in the lobby. The studio is located near a major train station, making it convenient for those who commute from surrounding areas. The culture emphasizes flexibility, learning, and growth, supported by regular lunch-and-learn sessions and a focus on expanding the team’s footprint in the Chicago market.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Chicago, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $38.46 - $43.26/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
