We are seeking an Assistant Nurse Manager for our Medical Specialty Unit (MSU) – Union Hospital to support the Nurse Manager in the overall administrative direction for the clinical practice of nursing and the delivery of high quality and cost‑effective care for all patients and families associated with this unit. The role shares 24‑hour responsibility and accountability for all aspects of daily operations with the Nurse Manager. Responsibilities Assist the Nurse Manager in the overall administrative direction for the clinical practice of nursing and the delivery of high quality and efficient care to all patients within the unit. Share 24‑hour responsibility and accountability for all aspects of daily operational activity. Directly supervise nursing and technical personnel: assess staff proficiency, oversee daily staffing and scheduling, evaluate staff performance, and counsel staff members when performance issues are identified. Participate in all hiring, promotion, salary adjustment, and termination decisions, serving as a highly transparent role model that demonstrates quality expertise and professional behaviors which support staff development and the strategic goals of ChristianaCare. Identify and develop strategies to improve the overall knowledge base and professionalism of staff. Direct, mentor, and support all levels of staff on the floor. Identify potential future leaders and engage in succession planning. Analyze administrative and operational functions and implement appropriate changes and system‑wide improvements. Requirements Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Nursing required; a Master’s is required within three years of appointment. Registered Nurse required; Progressive Care or Intensive Care Department experience strongly preferred. Five years of appropriate clinical and leadership experience. BLS required; ACLS preferred. Current certification required; the selected candidate must successfully complete the professional certification within six months of the start date. Hours: This position is predominantly an off‑shift night shift but may require sporadic day shift work, including weekend and holiday duties as per department guidelines. Hourly Pay Range: $52.97 – $84.75. This rate reflects ChristianaCare’s good faith estimate of compensation at the time of posting; the actual salary offered to a successful candidate will depend on individual qualifications and experience.
