Data Solution Architect

We're looking for a highly experienced Data Solution Architect to join a team driving the modernization of a critical customer-facing data platform. This group is responsible for delivering regulated data to external stakeholders through APIs and is focused on moving from legacy data delivery methods toward a scalable, API-first ecosystem.

This is a hands-on architecture role that blends strategic thinking with technical execution. You'll evaluate existing APIs and data products, identify performance and adoption challenges, recommend architectural improvements, and build prototypes to validate solutions. You'll also serve as a trusted advisor and mentor to members of the architecture team while helping shape the future direction of enterprise data products.

Responsibilities

• Assess existing APIs and data products to identify performance, scalability, and adoption challenges.
• Evaluate current architecture and recommend solutions that improve usability, scalability, and long-term maintainability.
• Design data-centric solutions that keep business logic in the data layer while maintaining lightweight, efficient APIs.
• Provide guidance on infrastructure sizing, scalability, and platform modernization.
• Develop proofs of concept and prototypes to validate architectural recommendations.
• Partner with engineering, integrations, and platform teams to implement scalable data solutions.
• Mentor and support other architects and technical team members through technical leadership and knowledge sharing.
• Balance customer experience, compliance requirements, system performance, and cost considerations when designing solutions.
• Contribute architectural expertise across multiple strategic initiatives and data-driven products.
• Remain hands-on when needed by writing SQL and Python, creating temporary data pipelines, and supporting proof-of-concept development.
• Participate in design reviews, architecture discussions, and modernization efforts across the organization.

Qualifications

Required

• Strong background in Data Architecture , Data Engineering , or Solution Architecture .
• Experience designing and building production-grade APIs using Azure API Management or similar enterprise API platforms.
• Deep understanding of data architecture, data modeling, integration patterns, and scalable data platforms.
• Strong systems-thinking mindset with the ability to evaluate the full technology ecosystem rather than isolated components.
• Hands-on experience with:
• Python
• SQL
• GitHub or similar source control tools
• Data pipelines and modern data engineering practices
• Ability to quickly prototype and validate architectural concepts.
• Strong consulting, communication, and mentoring skills.
• Comfortable operating in ambiguous environments with broad ownership and outcome-focused objectives.
• Practical understanding of AI/ML technologies and how they can be applied to accelerate delivery and improve solutions.

Preferred

• Experience in utilities, energy, or other highly regulated industries.
• Experience modernizing legacy batch or file-based data delivery systems into API-driven products.
• Experience mentoring architects, engineers, or technical teams.
• Exposure to cloud-native data platforms and modernization initiatives.
