Fork Lift Driver

Day shift Monday-Friday 7:30 am-4:00 pm

Employment Type: Temporary Contract Assignment

This position is a temporary contract assignment expected to last approximately three to four months while covering an employee's leave of absence. The assignment may lead to regular employment if the position becomes permanently available. Continued employment is not guaranteed and will depend on business needs, position availability, and satisfactory job performance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Safely operate forklifts and other powered industrial vehicles to move materials, products, pallets, and equipment throughout the facility.
• Move products between production lines, staging areas, storage locations, loading docks, and distribution areas.
• Locate materials and place them on pallets for production, storage, or shipment.
• Load and unload products from trailers, containers, production lines, and designated staging areas.
• Stack and store pallets safely in accordance with OSHA requirements and company procedures.
• Shrink-wrap, secure, and prepare products for safe transportation or storage.
• Maintain organized staging, storage, and yard areas that are free of obstacles and safety hazards.
• Serve as a backup yard spotter when needed.
• Safely operate yard trucks to move and position trailers between loading docks, storage areas, and other designated locations on company property.
• Monitor yard traffic and communicate with warehouse, shipping, and production employees to coordinate trailer movements safely and efficiently.
• Assist with the placement, loading, unloading, and securing of cargo when required.
• Conduct routine pre-operation inspections of forklifts, yard trucks, trailers, and related equipment.
• Immediately report equipment damage, maintenance concerns, accidents, and safety hazards to management.
• Maintain accurate records of trailer locations, movements, inspections, and incidents.
• Follow all OSHA regulations, company safety requirements, and established operating procedures.
• Perform other duties and tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

• High School diploma or equivalent (GED) or combination of education and experience
• 2 years' experience driving a forklift stand up or sit down vehicles
• Valid driver's license
• Ability to multi-task.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong time management and organizational skills.
• Ability to work under dynamic schedule constraints and consistently meet deliverable timelines.
• Ability to work with, interact and communicate across all levels of the organization.
• Must have the knowledge of safe lifting techniques, the ability to work independently and part of a team, and hand-eye coordination.

The noise level in the work environment is moderate. Mostly an office environment, but on occasion, may be required to travel to other sites that are not office environments. In a plant or warehouse environment where temperatures may vary, and noise levels are high. Personal Protective Equipment is required i.e. safety glasses, hearing protection, steel toe shoes, protective gloves.
