Senior/Executive Director, Reverse Translation, Oncology Translational Research

Johnson & Johnson seeks a Senior/Executive Director to lead reverse-translation research in oncology, driving mechanistic studies across the therapeutic area and supporting active disease programs. The role combines independent investigation of cross-cutting biology questions with laboratory-based support for clinical translation, requiring leadership of consolidated bench-science teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead independent mechanistic studies on high-priority cross-therapeutic-area questions with dedicated resources and mandate
• Prioritize and pursue disease-focused, mechanism-focused, and legacy program questions; develop findings into next-generation hypotheses and combination strategies
• Consolidate disease-area program scientists into single laboratory team; build and manage omics, functional biology, and preclinical model platforms
• Address active scientific questions from disease-area leads on mechanism, resistance, and combinations, returning actionable answers on defined timelines
• Serve on Core SLT for Translational Research, linking reverse translation to Discovery and Medical Affairs/Commercial to inform lifecycle and portfolio priorities

Requirements

• PhD, MD, or MD/PhD in cancer biology, molecular biology, immunology, pharmacology, or related discipline
• 10+ years (Senior Director) or 12+ years (Executive Director) in oncology discovery or translational research with hands-on lab leadership
• Broad mechanism-of-action and mechanism-of-resistance expertise with demonstrated ability to translate clinical observations into testable hypotheses
• Experience building and leading wet-lab teams, operating omics and functional-characterization platforms
• Effective collaboration at the Discovery–Translational Research interface across multiple disease areas and matrix structures
• Strong publication record with first and last author contributions
