Instructional Support School Program Manager Join Press Pass NYC as Our First Schools Program Manager Since our founding in 2021, Press Pass NYC has helped more than 40 New York City public schools launch or revive student journalism programs, reaching students in grades 6–12 across communities that are often left out of the kind of rigorous, creative learning that journalism provides. Now, with 16 NEW schools joining our 2026-27 Journalism Adviser Fellowship, we’re ready to hire the person who will lead our school programming into our next chapter. The Role The Anita K Hersh Schools Program Manager is a new position designed to help deepen our relationship with PPNYC’s growing number of partner schools. This person will be the connective tissue between Press Pass NYC and the school administrators, journalism advisers (teachers), and students we serve. They’ll visit schools across the city, coach journalism advisers, guide student news teams at every stage of development, and design and lead professional development that meets educators where they are. As a small team building systems in real time, we’re looking for the right person to help shape how we work, not just execute a playbook someone else wrote. Who We’re Looking For: You’ve spent time in secondary school newsrooms, teaching, advising, coaching, and you know what it takes to build a program that lasts. You’re a skilled facilitator who can lead a roomful of advisers through a challenging conversation about press freedom or a student team through their first “big story” crisis. You care about equity in education and you understand the particular power of journalism to develop young people’s voices, critical thinking, and civic identity. You’re a team player who is organized, warm, reliable, and comfortable traveling to public schools in every corner of New York City.
