Postdoctoral Researcher - Exercise Science

Job Description The Department of Exercise Science is seeking a highly qualified individual to work as a Postdoctoral Researcher under the mentorship of Dr. Jason DeFreitas in the Neural Health Research Laboratory. The lab’s primary focus is on sensory‑motor control, aging, neuromuscular performance, and interventions to reduce fall risk, such as strength training. The lab is equipped with repetitive TMS, neuronavigation, fNIRS brain imaging, multiple EMG systems, an electrical stimulator for nerve conduction studies, ultrasound, a balance platform, and more. Assist with Dr. DeFreitas’ active research (40%) – clinical trial coordination, recruitment, data collection and analysis, publishing, and training of student researchers. Grant writing (40%) – assist in drafting and submitting grant proposals. Autonomous research (15%) – use lab resources to pursue an independent research agenda. Other duties as assigned (5%). Funding is available for up to two years, with renewal for the second year based on performance in the first year. Qualifications PhD in Neuroscience, Exercise Physiology, Rehabilitation Sciences, or a related field. Experience conducting motor‑related TMS or fNIRS studies.
