Location: Float covering: Joliet, IL Makena, IL, Marionette Park, IL, Palos Park, IL Oak Brook, Tenley Park, IL, Chicago, IL, Evanston, IL and Waukegan, IL. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required. Schedule: Candidates will need to be available to work 6AM to 7:30 PM depending location they are covering. Summary The main function of a phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshoot, train and make workflow recommendations. Position Responsibilities Experience performing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data, decontamination, updating patient information. Collect and store specimens according to established procedures. Explain the process of venipuncture and other specimen collection clearly and courteously. Demonstrate technique using straight and butterfly needles. Fully understand all physicians' orders and match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes. Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order. Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% correct. Package specimens for transport and store them at required temperatures. Follow different procedures as outlined by specific protocols to maintain specimen integrity during transport. Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations. Attend annual department trainings. Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries. Minimum Qualifications Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state where you will be employed. Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
