Job Title: Production Quality Technician Job Description

The Production Quality Technician supports production quality by monitoring product and process performance, conducting inspections and audits, operating precision measurement equipment, analyzing defects, and clearly communicating measurement results and quality concerns to engineering and production teams. This role works largely independently on the shop floor to verify product conformity, maintain accurate quality records, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Support the implementation of measures necessary to ensure consistent serial production quality.
• Contribute to quality improvement programs and continuous improvement activities across the production area.
• Monitor product quality and scrap rates, including conducting defect analysis, participating in CIP and scrap problem solving, and tracking corrective and improvement actions.
• Support the development and implementation of local Business Unit quality standards in coordination with BU Quality, including creating and maintaining quality work instructions and borderline catalogs.
• Provide daily shop-floor support to production teams on quality-related issues and questions.
• Support customer audits and complete related follow-up actions in a timely and accurate manner.
• Assist with the 8D process for customer complaints and provide the information needed for 8D reports and customer portals.
• Implement applicable actions and controls identified through the PFMEA process to reduce risk and improve product quality.
• Conduct layered process audits (LPAs), process audits, 5S audits, and other required quality audits to verify process adherence and identify improvement opportunities.
• Operate precision measurement equipment, including a coordinate measuring machine (CMM), to verify product dimensions and conformity to specifications.
• Use ZEISS measurement equipment and CALYPSO software to set up, execute, and document measurement activities accurately.
• Perform tactile measurement and coordinate measurement of components in accordance with drawings, specifications, and inspection requirements.
• Review and interpret measurement data, identify out-of-tolerance conditions, and troubleshoot measurement or equipment issues as they arise.
• Communicate measurement results, findings, and quality concerns clearly and promptly to engineers, production staff, and other relevant stakeholders.
• Maintain accurate inspection, measurement, and quality records in accordance with internal requirements and procedures.
• Work independently with a high level of focus, concentration, accuracy, and attention to detail, escalating significant findings, equipment concerns, or decisions with broader operational impact to the appropriate supervisor or engineer.

Essential Skills

• Hands-on experience with ZEISS measurement equipment.
• Proficiency with CALYPSO software for setting up and executing measurement programs.
• Ability to operate coordinate measuring machines (CMM) and other precision measurement systems.
• Knowledge of tactile and coordinate measurement methods for components.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and measurement results.
• Basic troubleshooting and problem-solving skills related to measurement equipment and quality concerns.
• Working knowledge of quality tools and methods, including PFMEA, 8D, audits, corrective actions, and continuous improvement.
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and consistency in measurement and documentation.
• Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with engineering, production, and other stakeholders.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience performing quality inspection, quality assurance, and measurement activities in a production environment.
• Familiarity with layered process audits (LPAs), process audits, and 5S audits.
• Comfort working with fully automated production equipment and modern measurement technologies.
• Ability to work independently while knowing when to escalate significant issues to engineering or supervision.

Work Environment

This role is based in a brand-new, climate-controlled warehouse and production facility. You will work closely with production and engineering teams on the shop floor while performing measurement and quality activities. The position relies heavily on precision technologies such as ZEISS measurement equipment, CALYPSO software, coordinate measuring machines (CMM), and other advanced measurement systems. Work is largely performed independently, with the expectation that you escalate significant findings, equipment concerns, or issues with broader operational impact to the appropriate engineer or supervisor. The environment features fully automated machines and modern quality systems, supporting focused, detail-oriented work in clean and organized conditions.

This is a Permanent position based out of Easley, SC.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $65000.00 - $70000.00/yr.
