Research Associate Senior

The Research Associate Senior will serve as the College of Health Sciences (CHS) Office of Research and Scholarship's clinical research coordinator and primary point of contact for faculty and research teams conducting human subjects research. This individual will coordinate studies across the College — recruiting, screening, and consenting participants; scheduling and tracking follow-up visits to protect retention and data completeness; and coordinating participant procedures within the Center for Clinical and Translational Science (CCTS), including muscle biopsy and imaging appointments. The successful candidate will also support faculty across the research lifecycle by designing and building REDCap projects, assisting with IRB initial submissions, modifications, and adverse event reporting, and providing individualized guidance on pathways for contracts, DUAs, and MTAs, connecting investigators with relevant internal and external resources including the Office of the Vice President for Research (OVPR), the Office of Sponsored Projects Administration (OSPA), and the CCTS. In addition, the Research Associate Senior will develop resources that streamline and support CHS research — onboarding for new faculty and research teams, a library of standard operating procedures, and a research resource map — will maintain the metrics that demonstrate the effectiveness of these services, and will disseminate that information across the College. This position reports to the College of Health Sciences Associate Dean for Research.

The ideal candidate will exhibit great attention to detail, excellent research management and study coordination experience, strong organizational skills, professionalism and empathy in working directly with research participants, the ability to work well with teams, the ability to effectively problem-solve complex situations, and excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to explain technical and regulatory information clearly to participants, faculty, staff, and various internal and external constituencies. Prior human subjects research experience is required, including experience obtaining informed consent, and experience working in an academic medical center or CTSA-supported clinical research setting is preferred.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities - Required• Prior experience in an academic or academic medical center research setting.• Demonstrated experience coordinating human subjects research, including obtaining and documenting informed consent and managing participant follow-up.• Current CITI human subjects protection and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) training, or the ability to complete both prior to start date.• Demonstrated experience with IRB submission and the maintenance of regulatory documentation.• Demonstrated experience building and managing projects in REDCap or an equivalent electronic data capture platform.

Preferred Education/Experience - Preferred• Experience coordinating studies involving invasive procedures such as muscle biopsy or venipuncture, or involving MRI or other imaging.• Experience working within a CTSA-supported clinical research center (e.g., the UK Center for Clinical and Translational Science).• Professional certification such as CCRP or CCRC.• Experience supporting federally funded research (NIH, DoD, NSF, HRSA).• Experience mentoring, training, or supervising research staff and students.
