Operations & Maintenance (O&M) Engineer – Downtown Minneapolis The Downtown Minneapolis district energy system consists of central plant facilities, thermal systems, and an extensive steam and chilled water distribution network serving commercial customers throughout the downtown area. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Operations & Maintenance (O&M) Engineer is responsible for the safe, reliable, and efficient maintenance and operations of plant equipment. This role is a hands‑on position focused on maintenance of boilers, chillers, and auxiliary systems while supporting ongoing operational activities across the plant and distribution system. Key Responsibilities Review and become familiar with the Main Plant, standby plants, remote plants, and distribution system. Place in service primary and auxiliary equipment for proper operation of the plant, taking necessary steps to protect personnel and equipment from harm in the event of an emergency situation. Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on plant equipment as directed. Support job planning and interface with contractors for maintenance or project activities. Complete all necessary logs, records, maintenance documentation and plant paperwork as required. See that all workstations are maintained in good order. Perform other duties as assigned by plant management (e.g., facility cleaning, customer meter reading). Requirements Experience and Education Minimum of two (2) years of steady work experience with steam and chilled water equipment, steam turbines, and water pumps. State of Minnesota First Class “A” Operating Engineer’s License or ability to obtain within 2 years (exceptions may allow up to 4 years with reduced wage until a Second Class “A” license is obtained). High School diploma or equivalent. Knowledge And Skills Knowledge and experience with steam and chilled water equipment, steam turbines, and water pumps. Ability to work rotating shifts. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Ability to work in adverse climate conditions. #J-18808-Ljbffr
