Demonstrate respect, dignity, kindness and empathy in each encounter with all patients, families, visitors and other employees regardless of cultural background. Responsibilities Interview patients and/or family members to obtain accurate financial and demographic information to ensure prompt payment Verify patient’s insurance through the online eligibility system and determine payer to minimize denials For outpatient exams, estimate charges to determine patient liability Collect amounts due from patient based on insurance response Scan required documents and obtain signatures from patients Complete all forms required by governmental or commercial payers Follow AIDET principles, greet and assist patients, interact with visitors, physician’s office staff, physicians, and other employees of the organization while maintaining patient confidentiality Provide wheelchair assistance and transport as needed Cross-train to other registration areas to ensure efficient coverage Maintain knowledge level after training by staying current on procedures Read posted notices, memos, and emails Attend department meetings/huddles Adhere to all department policies, procedures, and uniform requirements Complete annual hospital and department educational requirements Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein Qualifications Education, Credentials, Licenses: High School Graduate or Equivalent Specialized Knowledge: Proven track record of excellent customer service skills Must be able to navigate through computer systems (Microsoft Office, registration systems, EPIC) Good typing skills / data entry skills Good interpersonal skills (work with the public) Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) Maintain patient confidentiality Experience Previous clerical or customer service experience Legal Notice Non-Exempt #J-18808-Ljbffr
