Medical AssistantThis position is for multiple Orange County sites across Hoag Medical Group. Locations include: Tustin, Irvine, Newport Beach, Huntington Beach, Fountain Valley, Aliso Viejo, San Clemente, Laguna Beach, Lake Forest, Foothill Ranch, and Costa Mesa. Specialties include: Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, etc. All positions will be Monday-Friday day shift hours.Primary Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe Medical Assistant (MA) is responsible for maintaining a highly professional environment, ensuring a collaborative relationship with patients and physicians. The MA will assist with the non-clinical tasks required to ensure smooth patient access and flow. The non-clinical responsibilities include pre-authorization processes and acting as a liaison between providers and patients. The MA will work collaboratively with staff to ensure all proper records are received and all appropriate testing is completed prior to appointment or surgery date. The MA will provide updates to staff and patients on timing and status for all above tasks that could impact the patient's health and/or testing and treatment options. Ensures even patient flow and continuous communication within Hoag and referring physician offices.This includes but is not limited to the following tasks:Scheduling patients (including follow-up office visits, imaging, and lab work)Preparation of appropriate chart elementsChecking vital signsRooming patientsAssisting with proceduresMay be required to start at a different location throughout the workweek or travel to multiple sites.QualificationsEducation and Experience Required:High school graduate or equivalent GEDGraduate of Medical Assistant program OR one year previous medical back-office experience, preferably within an acute healthcare system environment.Basic keyboarding skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word and ExcelBasic knowledge of medical terminologyPreferred:Associate or Bachelors' degree in healthcare-related fieldMinimum one (1) year previous medical back-office experience, preferably within an acute healthcare system environmentWorking Knowledge of EPIC or other Electronic Medical Record system 'EMR'Qualified bilingual or multilingual candidatesCertifications Required:Current BLS CertificationCertifications Preferred:Medical Assistant CertificationCPR certificationCurrent Limited Phlebotomy CertificationAbout UsHoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian is a nonprofit regional health care delivery network in Orange County, California, consisting of three acute-care hospitals with sixteen urgent care centers, eleven health centers and a network of more than 1,800 physicians, 100 allied health members, 8,000 employees, and 2,000 volunteers.
