Principal Scientist I, Obesity Neurobiology

AbbVie seeks a Principal Scientist I in Obesity Neurobiology to lead external innovation and licensing diligence for early-stage obesity therapeutics. The role focuses on evaluating novel targets related to CNS energy balance regulation and coordinating preclinical studies across internal and external partners.
Responsibilities
- Lead obesity discovery efforts in external collaboration and licensing diligence teams
- Conduct literature and competitive intelligence searches for novel obesity target identification
- Serve as obesity discovery lead in cross-functional teams expanding targets into neuroscience and immunology
- Coordinate preclinical proof-of-concept studies with contract research organizations and academic partners
- Analyze and interpret preclinical data; prepare scientific reports and presentations on obesity assets
Requirements
- PhD in neuroscience, biology, or related biological discipline with postdoctoral training
- 6+ years independent research experience in industrial or academic settings
- Expertise in obesity science, CNS energy balance regulation, and pharmacological manipulation
- Track record of peer-reviewed publications demonstrating scientific achievement
- Proficiency with AI tools, data analysis, and graphing software
- Strong organizational, written, and oral communication skills
- Project management and cross-functional team experience preferred
