UPMC Somerset is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) to support the Behavioral Health Unit! 

\n

This full-time position will work 36 hours per week, variable shifts, based on the needs of the department, and will also include rotating weekend responsibilities.

\n

Experienced Nurses (1+ years of experience) are eligible for a $15,000 Sign-on Bonus!  (Full-Time status with a 2-year work commitment)

• Engage in clinical development and RN residency programs for new hires.
\n
• Learn safe, accountable, and autonomous practices from experienced nurses.
\n
• Use feedback from peers and leaders to improve your practice.
\n
• Show enthusiasm for continuous learning and create a development plan.
\n
• Identify patient and family education needs and provide basic support.
\n
• Join professional nursing organizations and read professional literature.
\n
• Communicate clearly with the healthcare team and support workplace safety.
\n
• Understand research and its impact on practice; participate in journal clubs.
\n
• Apply nursing knowledge to meet patients’ clinical, psychosocial, and spiritual needs.
\n
• Demonstrate accountability, make care improvement recommendations, and build healthy relationships with colleagues.

• 0-2 years experience.
\n
• BSN preferred.
\n

\n

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

\n

\n
• Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)\n
  \n
  • CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.

\n
• Registered Nurse (RN) OR Temporary Practice Permit (TPP)\n
  \n
  • Must complete licensure examination within SIX MONTHS of hire or within one year of graduation, whichever comes first. Though temporary permits are valid for one year from the date of graduation, not one year from issue of permit (or until the results of the examination are known at which time it becomes null and void), UPMC requires that GNs take the licensure examination within 6 months of their start date or they will be terminated or demoted from the GN position, at the discretion of the BU.

• NIH Certification will be required within 6 months of hire for applicable units.
\n

\n

*Current licensure either in the state where the facility is located or, if the facility is in a state covered by the multistate Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) agreement, a multistate license issued by a participating NLC state. Hires and current employees working on an out-of-state NLC license who later change their residency to the state where the facility is also located will have 60 days upon changing their residency to apply for licensure within that state.
