Share your expertise as a Sign Language Interpreter in an engaging educational setting near Mount Prospect, IL! This contract opportunity supports students in the Northwest suburban area for the 2026–2027 school year, with assignments beginning August 19, 2026 and concluding between June 1 and June 4, 2027, depending on your assigned school. This is an impactful role where your SLI skills provide critical communication access and help foster inclusive learning environments.

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

• Current certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (SLI)
• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
• Previous experience interpreting in an educational or school setting preferred
• Ability to facilitate clear communication between Deaf/hard-of-hearing students and staff
• Openness to collaborating with education teams, parents, and support staff
• Excellent organizational and interpersonal abilities
• Commitment to supporting student learning and inclusion

What you'll do:

• Provide comprehensive sign language interpretation during classroom instruction, activities, assemblies, and meetings
• Adapt interpreting style to meet the unique needs of each student
• Collaborate closely with teachers, case managers, and paraprofessionals to support students’ academic goals
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical guidelines for educational interpreters
• Participate in school-related training and professional development as necessary
• Help ensure all students have equitable access to curriculum and school life
