Civil Designer - Digital Survey - Kiewit Infrastructure Engineers

Position Overview Kiewit Infrastructure Engineers (KIE) seeks a mid‑level Civil Designer to join the Digital Survey team at our Lone Tree, CO office. In this role the employee will develop detailed 3‑D CAD models that represent both proposed designs and existing site conditions, support acquisition or modeling of existing surface data from various sources, and update models as new survey information becomes available. Location Lone Tree, CO, USA Responsibilities Create 3‑D models using construction plans and shop drawings. Research available public surface data. Serve as the primary resource for LiDAR data processing on KIE projects. Work with point cloud data collected from mobile, terrestrial, and/or airborne collection methods. Create surfaces from extracted feature lines or point cloud data. Conduct quality control on deliverables. Extract existing structures from point cloud data. Provide updates to existing surface models from completed survey requests. Manage and maintain the basis of design information derived from survey. Mentor junior designers as needed. Qualifications Associate degree in computer‑aided design, 3‑D modeling, drafting, or a related program. 3–8 years of experience in CAD, modeling or drafting for civil construction. Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation Connect. General knowledge of civil/structural engineering principles and materials. Ability to interpret civil/structural contract drawings. Strong task organization, prioritization, and critical‑thinking skills. Attention to detail and ability to recognize discrepancies. Effective oral and written communication skills. Basic skills in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint). Preferred Qualifications Experience with Trimble Business Center. Survey experience on civil construction projects. Experience modeling in Civil 3D and/or Bentley Open Roads Designer. Experience with LiDAR extraction. Other Requirements Regular, reliable attendance. Meet deadlines and work productively. Effective communication and professional interaction with supervisors, employees, and others. Perform work safely, following instructions and policies. Work during normal operating hours and be willing to work overtime and weekends when required. May work at various locations and conditions. Base Compensation: $70,000–$90,000 per year (actual compensation varies based on education, experience, skill set, and location). Posting will be active from: 02/25/2026 – 08/19/2026.
