Project Manager - HVAC & Fire ProtectionPosition OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Project Manager specializing in HVAC and Fire Protection systems to lead design and construction projects from concept through completion. The Project Manager will coordinate multidisciplinary teams, manage budgets and schedules, ensure compliance with codes and standards, and maintain strong client relationships. The ideal candidate combines technical expertise in HVAC and fire protection engineering with proven project leadership and excellent communication skills.Key ResponsibilitiesLead, plan, and manage HVAC and fire protection projects through all phases, including scope development, design, procurement, construction administration, and closeout.Prepare and manage project schedules, budgets, fee forecasts, and resource allocation to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.Coordinate and collaborate with clients, architects, contractors, subconsultants, and internal engineering teams to align objectives and resolve technical issues.Review and approve design drawings, calculations, specifications, and submittals for HVAC and fire protection systems to ensure compliance with codes, standards, and project requirements.Oversee quality control and assurance processes, perform constructability reviews, and conduct site visits to monitor progress and resolve field issues.Mentor and supervise project engineers and designers, delegate tasks, and foster professional development within the project team.Manage contract administration, change orders, and risk mitigation; ensure timely invoicing and collection of project deliverables.Represent the firm in client meetings, design reviews, and regulatory hearings; cultivate and maintain strong client relationships to support business development.Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry codes, standards, technologies, and sustainable design practices, including LEED and energy-efficient solutions.QualificationsBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Fire Protection Engineering, or related field; Master's degree preferred.Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred; EIT certification required if PE not held.Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in HVAC and fire protection engineering and project management, with demonstrated experience leading medium to large projects.Strong technical proficiency in HVAC system design (mechanical systems, hydronics, air distribution, ventilation, controls) and fire protection systems (sprinklers, special hazard, detection and alarm).Experience with Revit (BIM), AutoCAD, and engineering analysis tools; ability to review and deliver coordinated BIM models.Working knowledge of building codes, NFPA standards, IMC, and local authority having jurisdiction requirements.Experience with LEED and sustainable design practices, including energy modeling and commissioning processes.Proven leadership, communication, and client-facing skills, with the ability to manage multidisciplinary teams and mentor junior staff.Strong project financial management skills: budgeting, forecasting, change order management, and contract administration.BenefitsHealth/Dental/Vision90% paid health and dental insurance401k with company matchPTO/Holidays OffSick LeaveOpportunities for career development through paid training and educationTuition Reimbursement Available
