About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 06:45-19:15 Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: RN License Certifications: ACLS, BLS Must-Have: Stepdown experience Telemetry experience Description: Primary patient population includes cardiovascular surgery and vascular surgery. This includes open heart surgery, thoracic lung surgery, and various other surgical procedures. Patient conditions include heart failure, DKA, chest pain, sepsis, and heart block. The unit has 40 cardiac surgery stepdown beds. The staff includes approximately 100 total members. Day shift consists of 1 charge RN, 13 RNs, and 4 PCTs. Night shift also consists of 1 charge RN, 13 RNs, and 4 PCTs. Patient ratios are 1:5 for RNs and 1:13 for PCTs. Equipment includes Baxter IV pumps, various lifts, and CADD epidural pumps. The EMR system in use is Cerner. Preferred candidates will have experience with cardiovascular surgery and vascular surgery. Experience in CVICU is also preferred. Typical procedures performed include epidural management, chest tube management, and tube feedings. Management of multiple cardiac medications is common. The best personality fit is a team player who enjoys a fast-paced environment. Flexibility in work schedule is important. No call is required. Weekend requirements include a minimum of 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule period. The candidate should be flexible to work holidays.
