Budget Analyst IAt the University of Nebraska's College of Engineering, our mission is to train the next generation engineering workforce and solve problems of global importance. As a Budget Analyst I, you will:Provide budget and financial analysis for the College of Engineering Dean's office.Review and analyze overall College and department budgets to aid in decision making processes.Perform ad hoc analysis of financial data for dean-level decision-making.Troubleshoot budget and financial commitment issues, understanding the complex requirements of each fund type and providing advice to unit leaders.Reconcile and monitor financial status of college funds on a monthly basis including state, revolving, and foundation accounts.Assist with the development of the annual operating budget, day-to-day operating budget, and the update and maintenance of SAPOrg Management.Represent interests in college and university committees and task forces.Be administratively responsible to the Assistant Dean of Business and Financial Affairs.Following an initial training period of up to six months, this position may become eligible for a hybrid work schedule, with four days in office and one day remote each week. Equivalent education/experience considered. Working knowledge of general accounting practices and financial reporting. Understanding of large integrated financial management systems. Advanced skills in Excel or similar spreadsheet software programs. Demonstrated ability to work independently and to evaluate, analyze, and solve problems and make and communicate decisions in unprecedented situations. Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.Preferred Qualifications - The following qualifications are preferred, but not required: Working knowledge of UNL and experience with UNL Budget System. Experience with SAP. Project accounting experience. Experience using AI for data analysis and within Microsoft Excel or similar program.
