Job Title: Buyer Reporting To: Manager, Materials – SDG Work Schedule: Onsite – Santa Barbara, CA Moog's Santa Barbara Operations provides sub‑systems and components for every mission critical system on a modern military vehicle. Our heritage is in electrohydraulic and electromechanical actuation systems and now, through acquisitions and internal development, Moog provides expert solutions in Stabilized Turret Drive Systems, Integrated Weapon Systems (full turret from mechanical design to fire control electronics and software), Ammunition Handling, Data Control and Distribution, and Power Management and Distribution. Responsibilities Buying: source commodities, negotiate price and lead time, execute RFQ to PO, and develop flexible supply strategies to achieve cost and lead‑time goals. Leadership: facilitate and influence cross‑functional discussions within the product line team to drive consensus, gain commitment to agreed‑upon action plans, and follow up on commitments. Problem Solving: develop structured problem‑solving methodology (e.g., A3, 5 Why, 8D, Production Pareto, RC/CA) to approach issues and develop solutions with a continual improvement mindset; lead groups to solve problems and recognize when effort stalls. Planning: manage top‑level assemblies, master schedules, capacity planning tools, and basic planning bills; identify supply risks and opportunities while analyzing historical and trending data. Continuous Improvement: act as subject‑matter expert in idea generation and implementation, generate new ideas using analytics and data to assess trends, and present opportunities to the supply chain strategic team. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or equivalent. Three (3) years of prior relevant experience. APICS Certification in Purchasing, Production, and Inventory Control preferred. The base salary range represents the low and high end of the Moog salary range for this position in the given work location. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance.
