The Lee Group is looking for a Senior Supply Chain Specialist to join one of our valued clients in Newport News, VA. This full-time opportunity is with an established organization in the food importing, distribution, and manufacturing industry.

As a Senior Supply Chain Specialist, you will play a key role in optimizing end-to-end supply chain performance, including inventory management, demand forecasting, procurement strategies, vendor performance, and ERP system optimization. You will serve as an important link between suppliers, logistics providers, internal operations, and business leadership to help ensure seamless product flow, cost efficiency, and high levels of customer satisfaction.

The ideal candidate has at least five years of progressive supply chain experience, strong analytical capabilities, extensive ERP knowledge, and a solid understanding of importing and distributing products into the United States. Experience within the food industry or with lot and BBD-controlled inventory is highly preferred.

Job Responsibilities of Senior Supply Chain Specialist

• Lead end-to-end inventory planning strategies to maintain optimal inventory levels, maximize fulfillment rates, and minimize carrying costs and stockouts.
• Take full ownership of inventory management from start to finish.
• Perform demand-versus-supply balancing, monitor lead times, and proactively identify and resolve bottlenecks and product shortages.
• Analyze and maintain safety stock levels, reorder points, and lead times, adjusting planning parameters within the ERP system as needed.
• Build and maintain strategic relationships with key domestic and international suppliers, vendors, logistics providers, and other supply chain partners.
• Monitor vendor KPIs, including On-Time In-Full (OTIF) delivery, lead time accuracy, quality compliance, and cost variance.
• Lead quarterly vendor business reviews and collaborate on contract terms, pricing negotiations, and service level agreements.
• Develop and maintain operational dashboards and metrics, including inventory turns, forecast accuracy, on-time delivery, and freight spend.
• Apply lean methodologies, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and continuous improvement practices to improve supply chain workflows.
• Lead cross-functional initiatives focused on supply chain optimization, cost reduction, and sustainability.
• Serve as a subject matter expert for ERP/MRP systems and identify opportunities to maximize system capabilities as business needs evolve.
• Partner with Logistics, Warehousing, Quality Assurance, and Commercial teams to align supply capabilities with sales targets and customer requirements.
• Support supply chain risk management and disruption mitigation by identifying alternative sourcing channels and developing contingency plans.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications of Senior Supply Chain Specialist

• 5+ years of progressive experience in supply chain operations, inventory management, demand planning, procurement, or a related area.
• Strong knowledge of the importing and distribution process into the United States, including experience working with NVOCCs, Customs Brokers, and 3PLs.
• High proficiency with enterprise ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or NetSuite.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, PivotTables, and Power Query.
• Experience using data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau to analyze complex supply chain data and support business decisions.
• Strong analytical and strategic problem-solving skills with the ability to identify supply chain risks and develop practical solutions.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate data insights effectively to management and cross-functional teams.
• Ability to prioritize responsibilities, adapt to changing conditions, and execute effectively during supply disruptions and other high-pressure situations.
• Experience with JDE is preferred.
• Food industry experience is preferred.
• Experience managing lot and/or BBD-controlled inventory is preferred.
• Strong negotiation and contract management skills are preferred.
