Engineering Tech Lead

Role Description

Clarium is scaling Astra OS across more of the country's leading health systems, and the technical decisions we make today shape how well that scaling goes. We're looking for a Tech Lead to raise the bar on architecture, code quality, and technical execution across the team — someone who leads through influence and hands-on craftsmanship rather than formal management.

In this role, you'll be the technical backbone of your team:

• Driving system design, setting engineering standards, and unblocking your teammates on the hardest problems — all while staying deep in the code yourself.
• Partnering closely with the Director of Engineering and Product counterparts to ensure technical decisions serve both the immediate roadmap and the long-term health of the codebase.

This role is ideal for someone who wants maximum technical scope and influence without taking on people management — someone who leads by example, mentors through code review and pairing, and is energized by solving the hardest engineering problems on the team.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of software engineering experience, including experience leading technical direction on a team.
• Deep hands-on experience with our core stack: Python, React, and TypeScript, including shipping production code.
• A track record of making sound architecture and system design decisions in a fast-moving environment.
• Experience mentoring engineers and raising the technical bar of a team through example and code review.
• Strong collaborator who can align technical decisions with product and business goals.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to explain technical tradeoffs to both engineers and non-technical stakeholders.
